FOUNDER & CHIEF DESIGN OFFICER – SAMANTHA BLACK DESIGN STUDIO
FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR – BLACK LABEL KOLLECTIVE
INTERIOR DESIGNER . SPACE TRANSLATOR . ARTISAN
Samantha Black, a Pacific Northwest native from forest and nature inspired roots, has always strived to investigate where the inspiration of building, architecture, and the nexus of design inspiration spring from. She grew up in a hands-on household of doers, where power tools and imagination were allowed to flourish. She began with redesigning her own bedroom when she was only 10 years old, painted everything herself, including refinishing the furniture, and she has never looked back.
She is captivated by how we experience a space and how our moods, and inspiration is derived from what we choose to surround ourselves with. With a Master of Philosophy degree in the History of Art and Architecture Samantha spent years curating fine art exhibitions, building and cultivating how we all interact with objects of inspiration. Combining this experience with a deep study in color theory, Samantha then returned her talents to interior design and architecture, beginning with the most intimate residential spaces and further expanding to public venues, gathering spaces and dream homes.
Samantha has a technical design mind and enjoys a deep respect for the functional aspects of hardscape and casework: where design decisions are built into the structure. Math and science are sexy and she proves it with zeal.
Samantha has redefined what it means to work from home in the peaceful retreat she shares with the love of her life and her spirited 9 year old son.
